La Digue Island

Highly recommended

Boats dock on the west coast of the island of La Digue, in the village of La Passe, which, along with Anse la Réunion, accounts for the most of the population on this 10km2 island. Most of the land is occupied by the granite massif of Piton de la Digue (333m). This is a tranquil environment and you can head out into nature on foot, by bicycle or in an oxcart and meet the locals, principally fishermen, observe the flycatchers in La Veuve reserve, or just enjoy heavenly Anse Source d'Argent. Don't miss the lively festival held here on 15 August.
