Yale University Art Gallery

Recommended
This gallery was founded in 1832 with a gift of about 100 works of art from American artist John Trumbull (1756-1843). Today the gallery comprises three interconnected structures—the Gothic-style Swarthout Building, the 1866 Street Hall, and the recently renovated main building, designed in 1953 by Louis Kahn. The museum's 185,000-piece collection emphasizes American decorative arts, and 19C and 20C European painting and sculpture.
