Freedom Trail

Highly recommended
The popular 2.5mi walk, beginning at the 50-acre park, Boston Common, and ending at Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown, includes most of the urban sites related to Boston's 18C and 19C history, particularly those that played major roles in the Revolution. Marked by a painted red line or red bricks embedded in the sidewalk, the trail wends through several distinct neighborhoods: the "Old Boston" of Beacon Hill, the dense and bustling Financial District, the Faneuil Hall shopping complex, the twisting streets of Italian North End, and Charlestown, an Irish residential enclave.
