The Humble Administrator's Garden

Highly recommended
Created in the early 16C, the garden was the private estate of Wang Xianzheng, a censor at the imperial court. Its name is inspired by the maxim: "cultivate your garden to meet your needs - this is the policy of the humble". This garden, extending across 52ha and based on the theme of water, is dotted with small bamboo-covered islands, streams and ponds, and appears as an artist's impression of the perfect countryside. The highlight of the western section of the garden, which is sub-divided into three sections, is the duck pavilion, built on stilts.
