Pura Kehen

Recommended
In the pleasant town of Bangli, ancient capital of the Gelgel dynasty, the impressive Pura Kehen was the site of sovereigns' coronations. It rises over eight terrace levels against a backdrop of lush greenery. Elephant statues greet visitors at the foot of the steps. Further up, the finely worked entrance gateway opens onto a magnificent banyan tree, on which is mounted a bale kulkul (summoning drum). Continue through three courtyards, the last of which has elegantly aligned meru.
