Bandung The Essential
Capital of West Java, seat of Sunda culture, and with a majority Muslim population, Bandung and its pleasant climate attracted the Dutch, who called it the "Paris of Java". Since then it has become a modern, dynamic metropolis, often considered to be the showcase of Indonesian science and technology, while retaining a distinctive artistic and cultural energy. Its name has a place in history thanks to the famous Asian-African Conference held here in 1955, which brought together Nehru, Sokarno and Nasser, among others.
