São Paulo Museu Afro-Brasil

Highly recommended
The Museu Afro-Brasil, located in an elegant, light-filled building, was founded on the initiative of artist Emanoel Araujo, who, over a period of twenty years, gathered an extraordinary collection of 5 000 pieces related to Brazil's African heritage. The exhibition shows the importance of African culture in Brazil, from the time of slavery to the present day, through very diverse pieces: ranging from everyday objects and works of art to costumes and archive documents, they make for a fascinating visit.
