Parque Ignacio Agramonte

Interesting
This square, the town's oldest, takes its name from local patriot General Ignacio Agramonte. This former parade ground which witnessed the brutal executions of independence fighters, is today a backdrop for strolling and chatting. Marble benches under its trees make for a pleasant spot from which to admire the elegant Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria cathedral (restored in 1864), a Baroque masterpiece.
