Acapulco History Museum

The Fuerte de San Diego was built by the Spanish in the early 16C to protect the ship, La Nao de China, from pirates, as it sailed loaded with silks and spices from China. The story of this trade, which ended with Mexican Independence, although not without leaving its mark on local culture, is recounted at the highly interesting Acapulco History Museum, along with pre-Columbian history.
