Stone of Sayhuite
For safety reasons, tourists are strongly advised to avoid this region. Sayhuite stone is a huge stone, some 4m in diameter, adorned with carvings of mountains, rivers, animals (particularly monkeys, pumas and condors) and humans. It is not known exactly when it was carved, but is generally believed to represent the Inca kingdom. Set in the midst of 60 hectares of an archaeological zone dotted with the remains of Inca places of worship, houses and irrigation systems, this unique monolith is more than worth the detour.
