Domplatz

The Venitian design, by town planner Scamozzi, of several of the Old Town's squares is due to prince-archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau's munificence. Porticoes linking the cathedral's façade to the façades of neighbouring palaces strengthen the attractive architectural unity of the square. In December, Christmas Market lights shine brightly here. There is a fine column of the Virgin Mary (1771) at the centre of the square.
