Hohensalzburg

Recommended
At 120 m above the Salzach, the familiar, big, crenellated towers of the Archbishops' Castle, leaning on powerful bastions, watch over the city. With its towers, barbicans, armouries and arms depots, it is a real mini town perched on the Mönchsberg. The view on the Old Town and the Alps is superb from up here. Pleasant surprises await you on your tour of the castle, such as state rooms, sumptuously fitted out in the Middle Ages and an interesting museum.
