This great square in the heart of the Old Town, is where the main shopping avenues end, with incessant comings and goings of trams and mixed crowds thronging round market stalls. In the centre, the Archduke Johann Fountain (1878) is dedicated to the town's benefactor. All around, houses with colourful façades hide intimate Medieval courtyards, while a partly-pedestrianized maze of alleyways stretches on either side of the square.
