House of the Order of German Knights

The Teutonic Knights had a particularly eventful history. This order of soldier monks, founded during the Crusades and which went on to conquer the pagan Baltic and Slav lands, helped Austria to fight the Turks before devoting itself exclusively to charitable works. The Schatzkammer or Treasury presents both unusual and highly valuable pieces charting the history of the order.
