Tour Anneessens

This corner tower is the remains of the first city wall (11C-13C) and was restored in 1967. It has an octagonal staircase tower and a round path lined with merlons. The tower rests on two broken barrel vaulted floors. Anneessens, who headed up the trades that revolted against the Austrian government, was imprisoned here before being executed in 1719.
