Århus The Essential
Århus, capital of the west of Denmark, is the country's second largest port. Its position on the east coast of Jutland facilitated its economic rise, which today is based on electronics, communications, design and the food industry. In addition to this industrial vocation, the city is remarkably dynamic culturally: a renowned Fine Arts Museum, an archaeological institute, a large music complex and two major annual festivals. Little wonder that it has been chosen as European capital of culture for 2017.
