Møntergården

Recommended
A superb ensemble of old houses. The porch of the Østerbyesgårda, a fine half-timbered residence dating from 1631, provides access to a roughly paved courtyard lined by 16C-17C bourgeois residences. One of these is home to the Bymuseet (Town Museum), which hosts temporary exhibitions on urban life. The museum extends into a modern annexe built at the end of the courtyard, housing the exhibition on the history of Funen (Fyn), Denmark's orchard island. Off to one side is Mønterstræde, a narrow alleyway fronted by an array of lopsided houses.
