English Cemetery

Situated on a piece of land given by the Governor of Málaga to the British Consul in 1829, this was the first Protestant cemetery in Spain. Here, in this pleasant garden, lies the Spanish poet Jorge Guillén (1893-1984), one of the first winners of the prestigieux Prix Cervantes, who spent his last years in Málaga, as well as British writer Gerald Brenan (1894-1987), who brought the Alpujarras to readers.
