Los Montes de Málaga Nature Reserve

This nature reserve, which stretches almost from Málaga to Colmenar and covers 4 762ha of mid-range mountains (from 97m to 1 031m altitude), is divided by streams forming little valleys. You can explore it by bike or on foot (10 circuits are suggested on the park's website, some of which are at times accessible by car). Typical Mediterranean vegetation occupies great swathes of land replanted with Aleppo pines. Extensive reafforestation was carried out to put an end to the flooding that Málaga endured for centuries. The road is dotted with lookout points, as well as inns where you can take a break and savour the tasty local dishes washed down with regional wines.
