Iglesia Rupestre de la Virgen de la Cabeza

Interesting
This small Mozarabic monastery was founded in the 9C, in all probability by Hispano-Visigoths who sculpted it out of the rock. Occupying a surface area of 280m2, the complex comprises a store, monastic quarters and the church, whose frescoes date from the 18C. In the middle of August every year, the Virgen de la Cabeza (Virgin of the Head) is ceremoniously taken from the church to the chapel next to the monastery.
