Cygnaeus Gallery

Interesting
A professor of aesthetics Fredrik Cygnaeus (1807-1881) had his summer residence - one of the last surviving wooden buildings in the centre of Helsinki - in the Kaivopuisto quarter, which, in the 19C, was still a spa resort frequented by Russian aristocrats. Converted into a museum (the first to be opened in Helsinki), it boasts over 450 works, Finnish paintings (Edelfelt, Holmberg) and sculptures (Runeberg, Takanen).
