House of painter Pekka Halonen

Interesting
In 1902 Pekka Halonen built this imposing pine house. The interior is simple, functional. His cousin Arttu created the decor of the doors. The workshop, dining room and kitchen were on the ground floor, the bedrooms upstairs. Halonen studied at the Académie Julien in Paris from 1890 to 1892 and attended Gauguin's classes in 1904. His preferred subjects were nature and Finnish people. The studio has been turned into a museum and several temporary exhibitions are held here each year.
