Place Broglie

Marshal de Broglie, governor of Alsace, opened up this long rectangular space and planted it with trees in the 18C. To the rear, the municipal theatre is decorated with columns and muses sculpted by Ohmacht (1820). On the embankment to the right admire the majestic façade of the prefect's residence (1736), originally the Hôtel de Klinglin, and the 18C town hall, previously owned by the Counts of Hanau-Lichtenberg and later by the Landgraves of Hesse-Dramstadt.
