Belvès The Essential
Interesting
Amid rolling hills planted with forests of chestnut, walnut and oak trees, Belvès is perched on a promontory on the site of a Gallo-Roman castrum, looking out over the Nauze valley. The houses of Old Belvès tumble down the hill just like in a Tuscan market town. Below you will see the cluzeaux: troglodyte dwellings where the poorest of the poor lived for several centuries.
