This castle standing guard over the small valley is atypical. Built on the site of a 9C fortress, it took on its current shape between the 16C and 17C: it was during this period that the castle lost its defensive look and became a residence, blending Renaissance and Classical styles. Its formal gardens were laid out at a later date (20C). The château's masterpiece is the chestnut frame of the southwest tower, testament to the ingenuity of the Compagnons du Tour de France.
