St-Étienne-de-la-Cité church

Interesting
The church of Saint-Étienne-de-la-Cité, built in the 11C on the site of an antique temple to Mars, was the first Christian sanctuary of the city and represents an extremely pure example of the Périgord Romanesque style. The first cathedral of Périgueux up until 1669, it was destroyed and reconstructed numerous times up until the 17C. Inside, admire the cupola, the largest of the Périgord and the impressive 17C altarpiece.
