Musée d'Aquitaine

Recommended
Housed in the former faculty of literature and science, this museum showcases the history of man in the Aquitaine from prehistory to the present day through extensive collections displayed over two floors. The collection devoted to Bordeaux's Golden Age in the 18C is particularly interesting, while the 19C section highlights the relationship Bordeaux had with overseas colonies and territories. Other exhibits of interest include treasure from Tayrac, the Bituriges Vivisques altar, 4 000 Roman coins from the Garonne and the Flamboyant Gothic rose window from the Grands Carmes convent.
