Monolithic Church

Interesting
The church was created by extending caves and quarries. It is said that at times there were between five and fifty-five monks hollowing out the rock. The interior is an impressive sight due to the sheer scale of the naves carved out of the rock and the perfectly regular cut of the arches and four-sided pillars. A low-relief at the far end of the central nave represents two angels with six wings guarding the Gates of Paradise.
