Garris The Essential

Founded on the Roman road from Bordeaux to Astorga, this ancient little town forged its reputation in the Middle Ages thanks to its fairs, which continue to this day. The states general of the Basse-Navarre region were held here over a 5-year period in the 18C. Wandering down its main street lined with traditional 17C and 18C half-timbered and corbelled brick houses is like taking a trip back in time. Note the sculpted head rafters decorating the façade of the Sehabla House (1641).
