Moulins The Essential
Recommended
On the banks of the Allier river, this peaceful capital of the Bourbonnais, annexed to the French crown in 1531, is surrounded by bocage landscapes and the Sologne. The Mariniers quarter is a pleasant place for a stroll. Until now, its main attraction for visitors was its reredos, a masterpiece of medieval painting; however, the Centre National du Costume de Scène et de la Scénographie, with its unique collection of over 10 000 costumes, has breathed new life into the "city of mills".
