Billom The Essential
Interesting
This fortified town in the Auvergne, through which the Angaud runs, has a particularly well-preserved medieval quarter, where you can see, in particular, the Maison du Bailli (16C), the Maison du Chapitre, a vestige of the medieval university, and the Église St Cerneuf, a lovely Gothic church. In addition to the famous garlic festival (August), various other events are held here, such as the puppetry arts festival, punctuate Billom's calendar throughout the year. Don't miss the wonderfully vibrant Monday market.
