The Château de Murol is made up of a fortified surrounding wall, a central château built on a basalt mound 15m thick, a keep, several towers and a Renaissance building. It calls to mind the severely tested lords of Chambe and Murol, but also a group of painters, who, in the 20C, appreciated the banks of the Couze, and came together under the name of the École de Murol. The château has undergone significant refurbishment works and visits are now organised here.
