Vitré The Essential
Recommended
An authentic trip back in time is a rarity but in Vitré the ramparts and little streets have not changed for 400 or 500 years. Built on a spur at the gateway to Brittany, this ancient fortified town has a proud symbol in the shape of its castle, a fine example of medieval military architecture, standing imposingly at the far end of a headland.
