Champmol Charterhouse

Interesting
Apart from the tombs and altarpieces kept in the Guard Room of the Fine Arts Museum, all that remains of the charterhouse, after it was destroyed in 1793, are two pieces by the sculptor, Claus Sluter, "sculptor to the Dukes", hailing from Haarlem: the chapel portal and the famous Well of Moses, with its prophets, which is outstanding in its realism. You will see them right here, in the grounds of this psychiatric facility, which has occupied the site of the medieval monastery since 1843.
