Le Creusot
Le Creusot The Essential
In a rural setting in stark contrast with its industrial character, Le Creusot was already known in the 16C for its coal and went on to experience dazzling growth when the Schneider brothers moved there in 1836. What attracts visitors today is, of course, this exceptional industrial heritage, with the creation of the écomusée, a museum spread throughout the town, which, along with Montceau-les-Mines, forms the urban community of Creusot-Montceau.
