Mâcon
Mâcon The Essential
The south of France? This is the initial impression of Mâcon, Chalon's great rival, with the round-tiled roofs of the houses stretching alongside the right bank of the River Saône. Mâcon owes its lively atmosphere to a large stretch of water and its National Wine Fair. The town of Lamartine also offers pleasant rambles in the nearby hills and the vineyards which were so dear to the poet.
