The museum is housed in a Regency style building, the hôtel Sennecé. Its exhibits include paintings, tapestries and period furniture. There are numerous documents on the literary and political life of Alphonse de Lamartine (1790-1869), Mâcon's illustrious inhabitant, who became the youngest member of the Academy of Mâcon in 1811.
