This château on the banks of the River Armançon is one of Burgundy's finest residences. It was built for Antoine III de Clermont, Dauphiné's governor and husband of Anne-Françoise de Poitiers, in 1546, according to plans by Sebastiano Serlio. This Italian architect came to the court of François I and played a significant role in bringing the principles of Italian Renaissance architecture to France. The mural paintings have been beautifully restored.
