Château de Tanlay

The appeal of this château, which is a stone's throw from the Burgundy Canal and is surrounded by wide moats, lies not only in its rich architectural exterior, but also in the quality of its interior decoration and furnished apartments. Built around 1550, it is a fine example of French Renaissance architecture, at a time when it had broken with the Italian influence. Eleven generations of the same family have lived here since 1704. Contemporary art exhibitions are held here every summer.
