Château de la Verrerie

Interesting
In 1422, Charles VII granted the Verriere lands to John Stuart for services rendered. Returned to royal ownership in 1672, they were then given by Louis XIV to the Duchess of Portsmouth, a favourite of Charles II. Secluded in a magical verdant spot on the shores of a lake, this residence inspired Alain-Fournier for the party in his novel Le Grand Meaulnes. Explore the château, guided by actors in period dress, and why not spend a night in one of the guestrooms?
