Château de Chenonceau Gardens
The two quintessentially French-style gardens of Chenonceaux have a dreamlike beauty and fine views of the château. Inspired by Italian gardens and their use of hydraulic engineering, the garden of Diane de Poitiers (1551) has at its centre a fountain shooting 6m into the air. Set around a pond, the garden of Catherine de Médicis covers 5 500 m2. Lose yourself in the labyrinth (1ha) centred on a pavilion, or discover the kitchen garden which produced 150 baskets of produce every week.
