Carroi: Art and History Museum of Chinon

Established in the House of the Estates-General, the art and history museum of Chinon exhibits archaeological collections and medieval statues. It also contains the cope of St Mexme (12C), the largest piece of Arab silk in Europe, and a full-length portrait of Rabelais by Delacroix. The reception hall on the second floor sports a hull-shaped timber ceiling and displays collections devoted to local history.
