Châteauroux
Châteauroux The Essential
What you see prior to Chateauroux is Déols, to be specific the steeple on its old abbey. Although that's where everything began, prior to Raoul le Large crossing the River Indre and establishing his Château Raoul, there is much more. Capital of the Bas-Berry and home town of Maréchal Bertrand and Gérard Dépardieu, Châteauroux is the metropolis for a region of great culture, and its town centre, edged with large gardens, has preserved the pattern of its medieval streets.
