Château de Beauregard

Interesting
Once a hunting lodge, Beauregard is home to a real gem: its remarkable Galerie des Illustres. In 1617, Paul Ardier, a former minister at court, started this collection of portraits which was continued by three generations of his family over a period of 60 years. The collection has survived intact, comprising 327 historical portraits which retrace three centuries of French political life. Also of interest is the cabinet des Grelots, a charming mid-16C room by Scibec de Carpi.
