La Défense Main Arch

Recommended
Built out of a single block, this huge 110m-high glass and white Carrara marble arch was designed by the Danish architect Otto von Spreckelsen. The Grande Arche, which takes the form of an empty cube, is the final point of Paris' historical centreline, which takes in the Louvre, Concorde and the Arc de Triomphe. Access to the roof, which offers an extraordinary view, is closed to visitors but should be able to reopen further to major renovation works.
