Opéra Bastille

Interesting
Designed by the architect Carlos Ott, this immense building was inaugurated on 4th July 1989. Two auditoria, of which one seats 2700. The combination in a single building of all the skills necessary to stage an opera (there are 74, from the bootmaker to the sound technician) explains the size of the building. After the first opera (Berlioz' Troyens conducted Myung-Whun Chung), triumphs and controversy have followed, showing the vitality of the capital's operatic life.
