Place Stanislas

Highly recommended
Stanislas Leszczynski, former king of Poland and also Duke of Lorraine, had this square in Nancy built in 1752-55, in honour of his son-in-law, King Louis XV. The square's main highlight is the marvellous gold-plated wrought-iron gates, as beautiful by day as by night, when illuminations underscore the elegant lines of the surrounding pavilions. In summertime, a magical "sound and light" show illustrates the square's history and is projected onto the square's façades.
