Rade de Cherbourg

A boat trip from the swing bridge or the Cité de la Mer is a chance to get to grips with the Europe's largest man-made harbour, a huge structure commissioned by Napoleon. The central fort on the sea wall, also known as "Batterie Napoléon", was the Emperor's "pyramid" and his "Lake Moeris" (the military port).
