Old Town of Domfront
Domfront's historic centre is surrounded by fortifications which include 13 towers out of an initial total of 24 (the best preserved are on the South side). The area comprises fine half-timbered houses (number 38 rue Docteur-Barrabé) and carefully restored 16C private mansions. Not to be missed: the neo-Byzantine church of St Julien, featuring an unusual interior plan, and the town hall decorated with drawings and oil paintings by local artist Charles Léandre. From the North terre-plein of the ramparts, there is a pleasant view of the deep Varenne Valley.
