Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges The Essential
The town, surrounded by medieval ramparts, overlooks the Garonne river basin from its rocky peak, with the foothills of the Pyrenees as a backdrop. The little streets in the upper town are filled with arts and craft shops, boutiques and half-timbered houses. From the cloister of Ste-Marie Cathedral, at an altitude of 515m, you can see the snowy peaks of Cagire, Gar and Montsacon. The lower town, more ''authentic'' and with fewer tourists, has maintained its farming and pastoral activities.
